Curriculum, Instruction and Evaluation (CIE) Services

About CIE Services

Curriculum, Instruction and Evaluation (CIE) Services is committed to supporting school and district educators' ongoing efforts to maximize student learning and increase student achievement. CIE Services staff acts on this commitment by offering a diverse array of services in the areas of professional and staff development, consultation and technical assistance, professional-technical education, and migrant education.

Professional Development Services

CIE Services consultants teach workshops and courses in schools and for the county, demonstrate lessons in classrooms, observe and provide feedback to teachers, and mentor teachers who teach their colleagues. Areas of expertise include literacy and language, mathematics, social science, differentiated instruction, curriculum mapping and alignment, using data for instructional improvement, and classroom assessment.

Consultation and Technical Assistance Services

Consultants work with principals and district administrators on instructional improvement topics and facilitate school improvement, staff development, and other planning processes, as requested.

Data System Support Services

CIE Services staff support users of the online assessment database Mastery in Motion, assist users of eSIS' elementary mark entry/report card module and Gradebook, and coordinate the design of a new eSIS CIM/CAM/PASS tracking module.

Contract Services

CIE Services coordinates services available through federally-funded Carl Perkins and Migrant Education grants. Carl Perkins funds are used to support efforts to improve career and technical education in Clackamas County high schools and at the Clackamas Community College. Carl Perkins activities are coordinated through C-TEC, a group of community representatives and educators who share resources to infuse professional-technical education with academics. The C-TEC consortium, through Youth Services Grant funds, also provides services that help at-risk youth gain the skills they need to enter and stay in the workforce.

Migrant Consortium

Migrant Education (Title IC) funds are used to provide supplementary services to migratory students in Clackamas County school districts. Canby, Estacada, Gladstone, Molalla River, North Clackamas, Oregon City, Oregon Trail, and West Linn-Wilsonville School Districts offered services to more than 1,100 migratory students in 2004-05 and 325 migratory students participated in summer school programs in Clackamas County during summer 2005.
